Prayers and Community Collection for Baby Evianna

If you have been paying attention to our social media and changes in store hours, you know it's because 3/5ths of the staff members at JJM were expecting babies in April and May.  Martha delivered baby Micah early in March. Kandi and Erica (Jasmine's wife) were expected to deliver a week apart in May; both with twins. Neither were learning the genders. Major surprises all around!

Ju-Ju Monkey has brought together some amazing people through out it's 8 years of existence. A common thread: We are all parents. We all want to belong. We all want to feel supported. From that our tribe has always been dedicated to helping our community be "the village" our children deserve.

If you have been in to Ju-Ju Monkey any time in the last 5 years, you most likely would have come in contact with Kandi, a super-mom staff member and a major piece of the heart of Ju-Ju Monkey. If you are a loyalty reward member, she definitely has helped you by calculating and mailing out your monkey money, or maybe she helped you pick out the perfect baby carrier. If you have been fortunate to cross paths recently, you would know that she was expecting twins in May.

Due to a heart abnormality known in one of the babies, Kandi was set to deliver at CHOP. They were approved to stay at Ronald McDonald house the week prior to her known C-Section date. The family was planning on spending one last weekend together and then the boys were going to go to Grammy's house after that. Mom and Dad would then prep for the arrival of the twins. Well the babies must have not wanted to miss out on family time because they came ahead of schedule and surprised everyone!

April 28th, Kandi delivered boy/girl twins, Evianna and Cooper, and went from a family of 4 to a family of 6!

A group of us went to visit Kandi and the babies at CHOP and they could not be more precious. Mom was doing well and moving between two floors of the hospital seeing each of her babies. Baby Evianna, who had the heart condition, after birth was being monitored in the CICU while baby Cooper was in the NICU. Can you even imagine having a C-section and then being discharged while your babies were on different floors of the hospital? I'm sure many of our moms of multiples can relate.....not an easy task emotionally or physically.

Just as Evianna was being set to come home, she had an episode with irregular heartbeats that required interventions and being checked back into the cardiac unit. We are writing to our tribe today because baby Evianna needs her village.

Kandi posted to her friends and family on facebook, and with permission, we asked if we could share with all of you. You will find it below.

They could use your positive thoughts and prayers. We would also like to organize a fundraiser for the Perazzo family to help with expenses incurred while the family is separated and re-located to Philadelphia.

If you would like to help financially:
  • We are putting a donation box at Ju-Ju Monkey
  • You can also send money via paypal as friends and family to paypal@ju-jumonkey.com. PLEASE PUT "BABY EVIANNA" in the comments so we know what it is for.
  • You can write a check made out to Kandi Perazzo to drop off at the store or mail them to us at 4755 W Tilghman St, Allentown, PA 18104
Because sites like gofundme take a percentage, we would ideally like to avoid using it so that all your generosity is given to the family.

We will be publicly listing the donations on a google spreadsheet. We will share that with all of you so you know if it all on the up and up. 100% of the funds will go to Kandi's family.  You can ask us to publish your name as "anonymous" if you prefer, just let us know in advance.

A member of Ju-Ju Monkey will plan to visit Kandi every other week, so if you would prefer to contribute gift cards to local places near CHOP (Starbucks, the cafeteria, vending machines), items they could use to stay occupied while in the hospital, baked goods or foods not requiring refrigeration, cards/letters letting them know they are in your thoughts, or whatever else you think of......please drop them off at Ju-Ju Monkey and we will deliver them for you.

With your prayers, we all hope baby Evianna will be discharged soon to be with her brothers.  Thank you for making it this far and we appreciate any help......

Letter from Kandi

This is my beautiful daughter Evianna, who was born on April 28 with her twin brother Cooper. They were born at CHOP in Philadelphia and today they are 10 days old.

At my 20 week ultrasound in January, the doctors discovered that Baby B, who turned out to be Evianna, had a tumor inside the right ventricle of her heart. We were referred to CHOP and made weekly visits through the rest of my pregnancy so they could monitor the tumor and make sure it didn't get in the way of anything in her heart. Praise God, it never did while she was in me. The doctors said the real test would be when she was born, because she would have to support herself and be able to eat and breathe on her own. Baby A (Cooper) would be fine when he was born, they said (and he is ❤️).

She did phenomenal when she was born. She needed help breathing and eating at first, but after a day or so she was off all support and seemed like a regular baby. Yesterday, at 9 days old, they told us she could come home tomorrow ❤️. We were thrilled!

Late last night her heart rate shot up and wouldn't go down. They moved her back to the cardiac ICU and started IV medication. She's stable and doing better today, but now we don't know when we'll get to go home.

Please pray for her. She's just a baby and it's hard to watch her go through this. Praise God we were still at the hospital when it happened, and not at home, so they can take care of her. The most difficult part is that the doctors don't know what the tumor is, so we don't know what else to expect.

I know God has a plan and we're trusting in Him to take care of our family. I'm posting this because we can always use more prayers and because I don't know when we'll get to come home, so you may not see me around for awhile.

Thank you to everyone who's been helping and supporting us so far, and thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers going forward ❤️.
